Many scientists consider Brown Bears and Grizzly Bears to be one species (ursus arctoc).  We know, however, that there is a difference in the animals when it comes to size, and an even larger difference when it comes to the amount of money it costs to hunt each one, with Brown Bears being much more expensive.

The largest species, Brown Bears are coastal bears that feed on a rich diet of salmon during the summer months, which produces larger specimens.  The outfitters with whom I contract consistently produce the largest bears per year.  Nine-foot bears (squared) are considered camp-legal, and animals up to eleven-foot squared are taken every year.

Successful hunting is conducted in the same manner regardless of in which camp you hunt.  Sit and watch, don't move around and stink-up the valleys.  The more sitting and glassing you do, the higher your chances for killing a trophy.

Fall hunts take place in October of odd years (i.e. 2007, 2009, 2011, etc.).  Spring hunts take place in May of even years (2008, 2010, 2012, etc.).

Let my knowledge of the Alaska Peninsula help you achieve your Alaska Brown Bear dream.  Why wait?  Book your hunt now!
